In the heart of Villa Verde—a community deeply invested in conservation and one of the many jewels on the outskirts of Celaque National Park in Gracias, Lempira, Honduras—I found myself in the company of the Sparkling-tailed Hummingbird (Tilmatura dupontii). Surrounded by the lush gardens of a local nature reserve, this moment was shared alongside the Club de Observación de Aves Tanunas, whose members are guardians of these avian treasures.

The photograph reveals the hummingbird's shimmering plumage, a kaleidoscope of greens and blues that mirrors the vitality of the Honduran highlands. It’s a visual symphony that resonates with the conservation ethos of Villa Verde.

My photography is a conduit for storytelling, an expression of my dedication to the environment, and an invitation to witness the delicate balance between these birds and their habitats. This image is a tribute to the collaborative spirit of conservation, a slice of life from Gracias that I am eager to share with the world.
