Artist's Description

The Long-tailed Sylph (Aglaiocercus kingii) is a stunning species of hummingbird captured in this photograph taken at Cañon del Combeima in Tolima, Colombia. This magnificent male showcases its shimmering emerald green plumage and exceptionally long, iridescent tail feathers as it hovers gracefully beside vibrant yellow flowers. Captured above the typical elevation range at 2,627 meters, this image highlights the bird's unique habitat in the cloud forests of the Andes. The delicate balance of light and composition underscores the intricate beauty of the sylph in its natural environment.
