Artist's Description

Common Name: Barred Owl
Scientific Name: Strix varia
Location: Avian Reconditioning Center, Apopka, Florida

This striking portrait features Mrs. P, a Barred Owl (Strix varia), taken at the Avian Reconditioning Center in Apopka, Florida. With her deep black eyes and mottled brown and white feathers, Mrs. P personifies the mysterious allure of these nocturnal creatures. The owl's gaze is penetrating, almost as if she's peering into the very soul of the viewer.

Named Mrs. P by the Avian Reconditioning Center, she resides in a specialized facility dedicated to the rehabilitation and education of birds of prey. For those interested in raptors and their conservation, the center is open to the public on Saturdays and offers an intimate encounter with a variety of species.
